Los Angeles, Nov 24 (IANS) Actor Samuel L. Jackson, who has been part of superhero movies, doesn't have any "issues" with the violence shown in movies. He says he has spent most of his life amidst "Asian films, violent novels, spy novels and mysteries and murders and horror stories".
Asked whether violence shown in films bothers him, Jackson told hollywoodreporter.com: "No, man. I don’t have issues with violence in movies. I like those stories. I watched Hong Kong movies all the time.
“I spent a third of my life just sitting around watching Asian film. I read violent novels, spy novels and mysteries and murders and horror stories. I have always liked that stuff. We grew up with that.”
He added: “I grew up watching Westerns on television. It used to bother me that when guys got shot on TV, they just grabbed their chests and fell down. I was really disappointed when I was sitting there, watching 'Sicario'.
“I wanted to see those kids’ heads explode. Oh, I’m sorry, spoiler alert! When you’re sitting there with these dudes, I don’t want to see blood on the wall; I want to see people falling over from the dinner table.”
Directed by Denis Villeneuve, “Sicario” is a 2015 crime thriller film about a principled FBI agent who is enlisted by a government task force to bring down the leader of a powerful and brutal Mexican drug cartel boss.
