Saharanpur (Uttar Pradesh), Nov 23 (IANS) Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Monday began a seven-kilometre-long march from here to highlight the problems of farmers, especially cane growers in Uttar Pradesh.
Addressing party workers here, he said the Congress was with the farmers and small traders as well as the poor and vowed to keep fighting what he said was a "suit boot ki sarkar" of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
"We are with you and will try our best to ensure that your interests are protected," he said in his speech.
Gandhi urged Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav to help the farmers.
"Akhilesh Yadavji, you said you will bring in changes... Stand with the farmers and tackle their problems. Help the cane growers and open the closed sugar mills," he said.
