India Most Tolerant Country in World: Venkaiah

Jaipur, Nov 19 (IANS) Describing the recent incidents of intolerance as "stray" and "blown out of proportion", union Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu on Thursday said India is the "most tolerant country in the world".

"Our country believes that the whole world is one family. India is the most tolerant country in the world, we have never come to intolerance and that is the philosophy of the nation," he said while addressing the Resurgent Rajasthan Partnership Summit 2015 here.

The recent incidents of intolerance were "stray" and were "blown out of proportion", Naidu said in the backdrop of the recent lynching of a Muslim man in Dadri and returning of awards by eminent personalities.

A certain section of the community was creating a "negative picture of the country", he added.

Naidu said the country was witnessing the "politics of poverty" and now it has changed to "politics of development" under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"The prime minister was getting a tremendous response from the world and the country was doing well under his leadership," he added.
