New Delhi, Nov 18 (IANS) The Congress on Wednesday said the remarks by party leaders Mani Shankar Aiyar and Salman Khurshid against Prime Minister Narendra Modi were personal and not party views.
"Both Aiyar and Khurshid have clarified in different ways. Whatever maybe anybody's personal view, our view is clear. For us, democracy begins and ends with Indian elections. We respect the 2014 (Lok Sabha election) verdict," Congress spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi told reporters here.
Aiyar told a Pakistani television channel that talks between India and Pakistan could move forward only if Modi was removed from his post.
Khurshid, a former external affairs minister, praised Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and criticised Modi during his invitation lecture at the Jinnah Institute in Islamabad last week.
