Washington, Nov 17 (IANS) Six bodies have been recovered at a campsite in US' Texas state, a media report said on Tuesday.
The victims - four men, one woman and a child - were members of two families and were camping in Anderson county, Efe news reported.
A seventh person, Cynthia Johnson, managed to escape and alerted the authorities about the incident.
According to county Sheriff Greg Taylor, the murders took place on the night of November 14.
At the campsite, the police found two bodies, that of Johnson's 77-year-old husband Carl and their adult daughter Hannah, inside a travel trailer.
The remaining bodies, including that of Hannah's six-year-old son Kade, her boyfriend Thomas Kamp, and Kamp's two adult children - were found in a pond.
William Hudson, 33, who lived near the campsite where the incident occurred, has been charged with the murders and is in police custody, Taylor said.
While the motive behind the murders remains unknown, the sheriff said Hudson had a prior history of violence and was not cooperating with the authorities.
According to Taylor, this is the most serious crime to have ever taken place in Anderson county.
