Lending a helping hand to make agriculture sustainable, Punjab National Bank has come forward to set up a farmers' training centre in the state.
This was informed by Punjab National Bank MD and CEO Usha Ananthasubramanian who met Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu today.
During the meeting, she informed the Chief Minister that the training centre will be established under the Bank's Corporate Social Responsibility initiative. She told that the Bank has set up 10 such Centres across the country and requested the Chief Minister to provide land for it.
The Farmers Training Centre will not only train farmers in the latest technologies in agriculture and allies activities but also impart scientific knowledge to them about the best and cost-effective practices, she informed the Chief Minister.
Replying in the affirmative, the Chief Minister has assured that 10 acres of land will be provided for the centre in Anantapur district which the state plans to turn in a horticulture hub. He added that his aim is to make farming a sustainable and a profitable vocation and discussed about various initiatives and schemes introduced to boost agriculture and allied activities in the state.
