Los Angeles, Nov 9 (IANS) Singer Nick Jonas says his diabetes can be hard to live with and admits that he has to be very careful about his diet.
The “Chains” hitmaker, who is known for his chiselled physique, was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes 10 years ago.
In an interview with Us Weekly, Jonas shared that he was terrified when he was first diagnosed with the blood sugar disease, reports femalefirst.co.uk.
He said: "It was scary. The initial step was to learn as much as possible ... about carbohydrates and sugar intake, and how that would affect my levels.
"I've had a couple of diabetic episodes. Most recently, I was walking home and out of nowhere I felt my sugar drop. I was in an elevator, luckily with a friend, when I started to pass out. I got to my room and got some juice and snacks to get my sugar up. It could have been very scary."
The singer added that “I live a pretty low-carbohydrate life. I wish I was eating pancakes all the time. That would be so much fun! When I do, it's whole wheat or buckwheat. I might have to take extra precautions, like checking my blood sugar, but I don't let diabetes hold me back."
