Hyderabad: The Telangana Rashtra Samithi had zeroed in on the name of G Ravi Kumar on Thursday was worried that it could lead to legal complications over the caste of Ravi Kumar.
So the chance went to party loyalist Pasunuri Dayakar for the Warangal Lok Sabha seat.
This decision was taken late on Friday evening following prolonged consultations Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had with party leaders and legal experts in his camp office.
The party leaders called up Dayakar and informed him about the decision of the party. Half an hour later the party made an official announcement about his candidature.
Dayakar, who belongs to Madiga community, hails from Bollikunta village of Sangam mandal in the district. He did a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree from JNTU, Hyderabad and was the designer of ‘Telangana Talli’ idol.
