"Boss is Back" is what you will feel, coming out of Bruce Lee The Fighter movie. If that is the main intent of the makers, they have succeeded in doing so. Other than that, let see how most anticipated comeback movie of Megastar Chiranjeevi fared.
The movie starts off good with a middle-class father (Rao Ramesh) trying to provide good education to both of his kids son, Bruce Lee(Charan) and daughter, Kriti Kharbanda. Like any middle-class man, he finds it hard to do right by both kids. Understanding the helplessness of his father, Bruce Lee scarifies his studies for the sake of his sister whose aim is to become an IAS officer.
Then an obstacle in the form of Sampath Raj, the boss of Rao Ramesh who wants to marry Kriti Kharbanda to his son. Bruce Lee who knows the bad side of Sampath tries to expose him using typical Vaitla Kona formula of hero moving into the villain's house and using Brahmanandam as the scapegoat.
The screenplay is too predictable and is no different from previous Vaitla movies. The First half is good with some good songs and comedy. The second half is very flat and even Brahmanandam comedy didn't save the movie this time.
Ramcharan excelled in dances and fights. He also improved his diction and OK in Sentiment scenes. Rakul Preet Singh is good. Rao Ramesh is very good as a middle-class father. Chiranjeevi is used very well and he didn't miss a beat. He is the saving grace of the second half. Nadiya as an Aunt is good. Jaya Prakash in a dual role and Ali's PK spoof are good. Arun Vijay is stylish as a baddie. Sampath Raj is his usual self.
The director has a good story but fell into his comfort zone and failed to develop a good conflict between Hero and Villan, which makes the movie look like TV episodes. He lost the narration while trying to balance between family audience and mass audience. Dialogues by Kona Venkat are OK. The photography by Manoj Paramahamsa is very good. The editing is good in the first half but completely missing in the second half.
Highlights:
Charan Dance & Fights
Sentiment Scene
Chiranjeevi
Drawbacks:
Routine Screenplay
No Conflict Scenes
Second Half
On the Box office side, the movie will be a hit but if extra care was taken in developing second half, the movie would have been a BLOCKBUSTER.
Watch it without any expectations just for songs and fights.
