Hyderabad, Oct 9 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Andhra Pradesh on October 22 to lay the foundation stone for the state's new capital Amaravati.
His day-long visit to the state has been finalized. According to officials, Modi will reach Gannavaram airport near Vijayawada by a special aircraft at 11.45 a.m. He will then leave for Uddandarayunipalem in Thullur mandal of Guntur district to participate in the foundation stone laying ceremony.
The prime minister will reach the venue at 12.35 p.m. and participate in the 'puja' along with Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and central and state ministers.
Naidu has invited prime ministers of Singapore and Japan for the ceremony. However, senior officials from the two countries are expected to attend.
A film on Amaravati will be screened at the ceremony, which will also witness cultural programmes.
Modi will also launch an e-brick portal to receive donations for the construction of the state capital. The state government has appealed to people, especially Telugus living abroad, to make contributions.
The prime minister will also felicitate farmers who have come forward to donate their lands for the capital.
After the ceremony, Modi will return to Gannavaram airport at 3.05 p.m. and from there will fly to Tirupati. He will land at Renigunta airport at 4 p.m. and will reach the temple town by road.
The prime minister will have 'darshan' at Tirumala temple before returning to Delhi at 7.30 p.m.
