Global Stars to Come Together in Capital to Hail Girl PowerNew Delhi, Oct 9 (IANS) Be it Oscar-winning actress Cate Blanchett, critically acclaimed stars Freida Pinto, Shabana Azmi and Nandita Das or Iranian female race car driver Laleh Seddigh - women, who have carved a name for themselves, will share their extraordinary and inspiring stories at the Women in the World India Summit here on November 20.

Tina Brown, the founder of Women in the World and ex-editor in chief of Tatler, Vanity Fair, The New Yorker and The Daily Beast, announced the inaugural Global Women in the World India Summit in a statement.

Founded in 2009, the summit brings together women leaders, activists and political change-makers from around the world to share their stories, and offer solutions to building a better life for women and girls.

 

The event will be co-hosted by Anand Mahindra, Barkha Dutt , Freida, Nita Ambani and Shabana.

Many women, who have brought in wave of change with their talent, like Madhuri Dixit Nene, former World Bank Vice President for Africa Obiageli Ezekwesili, an Israeli and a Palestinian mother working together to find peace, Robi Damelin and Bushra Awad, William Dalrymple, HSBC’s Naina Lal Kidwai, will be part of the seminar.

“Women in India are playing vibrant new roles in every aspect of society, so it's only natural that we bring the live journalism of Women in the World here,” Brown said.

The three-day summit will salute the struggles and triumphs of women and girls around the globe. In 2015, Women in the World became a joint venture with The New York Times and launched a new digital home on nytimes.com.

Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan had advocated the need to redefine masculinity in India at the summit in New York in April earlier this year.
